New Office Document and Open Office Document

Why is the default for these not to be installed? I personally find them very
useful and am surprised that you have to specifically select them to be
installed.

Please note also that when used, they open (or create) version 2003 programs
instead of Office 7.

Hi Wyndham,

They were optional install items in Office 2003 as well. With Office 2007 the New Document one is considered to be somewhat
redundant to the File=>New dialog choice in the apps, as the new choice includes the old options plus access to the templates in
Office Online.

Not sure what you mean about the 'version' they install. The New and Open Office document dialog boxes weren't restyled for Office
2007 (FWIW 'Office 7' would be Office 95. Office 2007 is v12 <g>.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, they were optional in previous versions but I do find it so much easier
to have a single prompt enabling you to create a new "document" in any Office
application.

I selected to install these but when used they open Office 2003 applications.
