it appears that our pst file was full. How does one determine the size of
that file and what is its max size?

i used the file menu to create a new pst file named outlook2009 but that
name does not show up in the folders list. where did it go?

what happens to the emails that were in the default file?

thanks.

Use Windows Explorer to look.
and what is its max size?

Depends on the version of Outlook that created it. ANSI PSTs, the only
format allowed in Outlook 97-2002, have a 2GB limit. Unicode PSTs, created
by default in Outlook 2003, 2007, have a 20GB limit out-of-the-box, but
which it expandable with registry settings.

File>New>Outlook Data File? If you completed the wizard, YOU choose where
the file is created and YOU choose what it's name will be in the folder
list. Don't you remember what you chose? The file name and the name in the
Folder List do NOT need to match. You can name the file "Bozo.pst" (in the
Windows file system) and tell Outlook to display it as "Butchie Boy" in the
folder list

Nothing.

What version of Outlook?
Within Outlook, rt click Personal Folders>Properties. Folder size, then in
Advanced Tab what does it say for Format? 97 - 2002 maybe?
You also can see the path & name of the data file there
