new task for myself, how do i automatically update another person.

If I create a new task for myself (ie. not assigned to anyone) and i want to
keep another person updated on that tasks progress. How do I automatically
update that person when I make changes to that task.

Note: If the other person had assigned me that same task, each time i
updated the progress the other person would also be updated. I just want to
know how to set the task myself and update the other person.
