Donna in Idaho \(remove invalid\)

I just got my new website up and running. Any comments (I hope you'll be
gentle with me!) would be appreciated. I tried to get the pictures as small
as I could without losing too much quality. Some of them were snapshots and
not too good to start with.

Hi, Donna:

I would only comment on two things:

1) The grey background makes it look too "blah". I would go for white.
2) The blue text is confusing..same color as the links. I would use a
different (darker) blue.

Thanks, Tom. I always go for grey because white glares and bothers my eyes.
But, if everyone else thinks white is the way to go - I'll make the change.
Didn't think of the 'blues' being confusing.

How about a off-white or light tan, etc.

The site looks great!

I don't like white either, maybe a cream color would be better. Or you
could do a gray background that merges into another color. Try this in your
body tag:
<body style="FILTER:
progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=0,
StartColorStr=#ffffff, EndColorStr=lightgrey);>

you can change the starting and ending colors too..if you pick close colors
it can be a subtle effect.

About the blue text, it's just that the same color of blue is always used
for links, so people may think to try and click on anything blue. However
it's not a big deal.

What I really like is a sorta sandy, or marbled, or textured background to
websites (very subtle), but I don't know how to do that.

I hate websites that have such a bright background or overly textured that
makes it hard to read the text.

Any better? I changed the background color & changed all the blue text to a
darker blue - used purple for some of the headings since our Project Linus
colors are blue & purple.

Donna -

I agree with Tom, gray gives the site a very drab look. You could try something
other than pure white.

Thank you! You're right - I was matching the blue color in the banner.
However, now that I've made the changes you all suggested - I like it
better.

Thanks again!

I think it's fine considering what you're doing there (it's not like you're
selling web design).
I think it's a very nice concept, the level of execution isn't out of the
norm, plus you're (IMHO) better than the norm on keeping your pages fast
loading.
I think you've done a fine job on this.
