Good afternoon --
I've created a template for our company users, and have posted it to our
corporate ftp site. Before releasing it, I'm testing to make sure that
there's a reliable process for them to open new copies. And I haven't been
able to do that. I can navigate to the site and open the file manually, but
that opens the template itself rather than making a copy.
I tried >File>New, and then selected the 'On my Web Sites..." option on the
task pane. I entered the remote file address correctly, and got an 'FTP
login' window somehow with a correct login name, although I haven't set up
anything on this workbook to know what the login name should be. I entered
the password, then got an 'hourglass' for about 10 seconds before nothing
further happened.
I notice that the tooltip for the field into which I type the file address
suggests an 'http://' address. It occurs to me that we may not be able to
start a new workbook from a template on an ftp site.
Any help would be appreciated, so thanks in advance.
