Newbie needs an invisible page.

I

Iconoclast

I am using FP 2002.

I imported a zip-file to my website, with a link to my home page, so that
people can download the file.

Rather than have people just download the file, I need to put the
downloadable file into a web page so that I can put a hit counter on the
page. That way I can keep track of the number of downloads.

I do not wish to increase the number of integrated pages already on my web.
How can I add a page to my web without making it part of the whole
interlinked web layout (30 pages). (An invisible page!)

Just create new page and do not link it to the navigation structure, change
you link to point to this page with the counter and which has another link
to the actual zip file.

Your server statistics will tell you how
many times the file is accessed.
A page with a counter won't be that accurate.
What if a "hotlink" to your file gets passed around
via e-mail like this: www.Iconclast.com/download.zip

It won't "click" the counter.
