Newbie programming question

greetings

I need something cleared up. I am learning to use SQL as an efficient
language to manipulate data in tables. I'm also making good progress in
learning VBA, using it to manipulate forms, controls, reports, data, etc. So
far, so good.

Here is my question. What really is DAO and ADO? What is their
relationship with SQL and VBA? Really I'm just trying to come to grips with
how I should think of DAO and ADO in the context of the languages SQL and VBA.
