Newer Version of FP Available?

T

Terry

I'm using FP 2000 v4.0.2.2717 for years and am looking for a later
version, preferably free. I'm running XP SP3 and FP performs quite
well, but we're always yearning for the latest, shinier model aren't
we?

I've seen offers from "DOWNLOAD NOW" sources but am hesitant to try
their offers.

Dreamweaver is purported (by its users) to be vastly superior, but
I've been front-paging too long and I'm too old to learn a bew way. :)

Any sources?

Thanks--Terry/WB4FXD

FrontPage 2003 (released in late 2002) is the
last ever version of FrontPage.

FrontPAge has been replaced by Expression Web and
SharePoint Designer.
Expression Web 4 (EW4) is used for standards
compliant web sites, and is available as a 60 day
free trial from http://microsoft.com/expression
- the upgrade price is around US$70, or GB£70 and
includes Expression Encoder and Expression Design
(FP2000 is an upgrade qualifying price).

Sharepoint Designer (SD) is a free product aimed
at SharePoint sites.
The latest version will ONLY handle SharePoint
sites, the 2007 version can be used on
conventional sites as well. Hunt for it on
Google.

NOTE - EW4 is NOT a FrontPage upgrade - it is a
replacement.
SD is also not a FrontPage upgrade - it is a
replacement.
Both programs require a knowledge of CSS and
HTML. EW4 will utterly destroy and shared
borders you may be using in your FrontPage sites
- make sure you have the site backed up before
using.
