Newly entered BCM contacts not appearing

I recently attempted to import data from excel into 2007 BCM, rather
unsuccessfully. Some of the excel records appeared as planned,others did not.
Now when I try to enter those missing contacts directly into BCM, I get a
message that the record already exists. But it doesn't appear anywhere, and
I only have one database created. Any ideas what is happening?

1) Check the deleted items folder. If the records are in there, it
would explain why you're getting the "alerady exists" message.

2) There may be a filter on your folder view, so that not all records
are displayed.

3) Another thing to check is the import log file. That should indicate
what actions BCM took while it was importing from Excel.
