news group history question

Todd F.

My employer does not allow access to Google groups so is there alternatives
to finding my old posts on all the microsoft excel newsgroups from the last 7
yrs or what ever is still saved with other tools.

If google groups is the only way then is there a way to retrieve all of my
posts and save them to word or something thne take to work as a file.

Thanks for time I would just like to make better use of everyones efforts to
help me over the years.

AFAIK, Google is the only one that retains that old an archive.

You can search for all your posts here:

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*excel*

using your email address in the author field, but you'll need to
retrieve the posts individually.

Does your employer really prevent you from doing a lookup in the
archive? That seems extremely short-sighted to me. Most employers would
be ecstatic to see the productivity improvement, that I'm sure you could
demonstrate, in using a vast archive of solutions rather than generating
them from scratch. The one exception I can think of might be if the
employer was concerned about intellectual property rights, but AFAIK,
there's never been a case where ng posts weren't considered to be in the
public domain.

Greasy?
"My employer does not allow access to Google groups" is first indeed class
stupid leadership. The situation reminds me of this:

Some clever kid had a VB project for download at www.planet-source-code.com.
It was nothing but a simple rebuild of Internet Explorer, using the IE
control, similar buttons and everything. Not impressive programming at all,
but the whole idea was that its caption (and therefore the Taskbar
represetnation) said Microsoft Word: Document 1 -"so I can use it in
school". I'd give that kid an A anytime.

Best wishes Harald
