On one of my computers I was able to place a NEWS icon on the menu bar. I
can't find how to do so on another computer--don't remember how I did it the
first time.

You probably know what Outlook version you are using. Perhaps you could tell

Tools, Customize - find the news command and drag it to the toolbar.

If added it and it disappeared later:

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.

You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.

me, I looked again and finally found it. Thank you.
