To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

It's a little confusing, until you've done it a couple times. Make sure you:

1. Bring up the customize box.
2. Select "Go" from the "Commands" tab (make sure Go is highlighted).
3. On the right side, scroll down to the "News" item.
4. Drag "News," not only to the Go menu, but then drag it down to where you
want it in that menu, then release.

So Plonk me.

I was making sure he was in the correct tab, and had the correct menu
highlighted. I've had many users who go to the customize box, look through
the options, and it's not there because they were in the wrong tab or menu
item, so of course it's not there.

I've even had users who merely try to drag it to the Go (without moving it
down), but it doesn't stick, or ends up there on the main menu between Go
and Tools, which won't work either.
