I have 2 computers that have windows XP and both computers have the same
error. I just noticed the error when I had one computer crash and had to
move the files over to the other computer. Until that time I had 3 users on
each computer but only one of us was using outlook. I noticed if the same
user uses outlook and the other users never opens up outlook the error never
comes up. For some reason the second user that opens outlook must reset
something or changes some kind of configuration that NIS04 doesn't like. I
have called Symantec and also been sending them e-mails. I have even
suggested that they remote connect with me so they can see first hand of the
error since they cannot get the error to show up on there systems.

There seems to be at least tweenty of us in this news group with this
problem. I have seen several posts giving sugguestions, but none that work
for me. I havent seen any posts saying they worked for others eitehr.
This problem seems to have started in late october. I first noticed it in
november when I let NIS03 do a live update. Buying 04 did not solve the
problem... Best I can tell Symantec introduced a bug in the update code for
03 and put it in the 04 product as well.
I have had a support case into Symantec for about 4 weeks now. They are
still saying that they have not been able to reproduce the problem. I
reproduced it on my first attempt with a minimal os re-install (format disk,
install XP/SP1, install Office SB, verify outlook okay, load NIS04, verify
outlook broken.), so after 4 weeks I wonder if they have failed to reproduce
it because they haven't tried to do so.
Suggest/request you send in a but report to Symantec. If enough of us
complain, maybe they will get some motivation.
