No Audio in Windows Media Player 19

I have no audio when I run an .avi video in Windows Media Player10. This also
happens with the movies etc., that came with WMP. I am only having this audio
problem with WMP. I wonder if I've inadvertently disabled something - though
I can't see what. Direct X is (latest) installed. My OS is Windows XP.

Perhaps... microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player
