No banners under 3 feet!

G

Gerhard Nowak

Hi there,

I can`t believe that it is not possible to print banners under 3 feet with publisher!

I posted this question already once, but no one believed me it has nothing to do with the printer! This messge shows up also with
other printers and as well with no printer installed!

But how can M$ produce such a crap? Only banners beyond 3 feet are allowed!

Maybe it is constitutional law.

Microsoft has not produced *crap*. Banners are controlled by printer drivers
and printers. But with Publisher you can create ANY custom banner size you
like in Microsoft Publisher 1.0, 2.0, Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95
(3.0), Microsoft Publisher 97, Microsoft Publisher 98, Micrsosoft Publisher
2000, Microsoft Publisher 2002 and Microsoft Office Publisher 2003.

Depending on your version:

On the File menu, click Page Setup.
Click the Layout tab.
Under Publication type, do one of the following:
Select poster.
Select banner.
Select custom, and then type in the Height and Width you want.
Click the Printer & Paper tab.
Under Printer and Paper, select the options you want. The preview shows how
many pieces of paper you'll need to print the publication if tiled.

I just printed 3 sample banners, 1', 2' and 4' all without issue.

Gerry, you have been told previously how to do this or what issue is causing
your issue.

Gerry more than likely the frog crap you are used to in Mauritius, and when
a good product comes along you cannot handle it.

It is only a constitutional law when it suits them in the US, like violating
peoples basic human rights and justice

Please read my response to your issue, reposted here:

Try this:
Go to Custom page size, set the height to the height of your paper, and set
the width to 2 feet.

It is, but it is not possible using the Banner Wizard.
Create a new empty, default publication by starting Publisher, and going to
"Blank Publication"
Now go to File > Page Setup
Avoid Banner completely, go straight to Custom, and enter 2' width, and
whatever the height of your page is for height (this may be the width of the
page if you are having your pages landscape)
Click OK.
Now design your banner, or copy in a design from a banner template.

DOH! You are using the wizard! *not* gonna work using the wizard. Can't
change that either, as it's proprietary. As Ed mentions, you need to start
with a blank custom banner :)

What you can do is then copy/paste the contents of a banner wizard onto your
custom banner and reduce the size to fit.

Thanks a lot for these answers! Now somebody understood my problem finally!

I am still trying to get it solved with a blank publication, am not through yet.

But isn`t this insane, to force you to banners beyond 3'? To make it proprietary?

And nobody knows the reason why!

After speaking with the Publisher team, this is just a limitation that they
decided to apply for the banner wizard. No exact reasoning was given.

Maybe because once you get shorter than 3', it's not much of a banner - just
a long poster?

Yeah, if you are going to shout, make it BIG like - 6 metres/20 feet of a
banner.

Hell, I would just create a big FAT OL BILLBOARD! I should try that in
Publisher :)
