No dictinary

New laptop had MS word Processing. However spell check does not work, no dictionary is listed. Can MS Word be reinstalled from "system recovery" CD provided with machine? I'm running Windows XP .

You should be able to install it with that CD but check with your
manufacturer. Sometimes those CDs just rewrite the entire hard drive!
