No difference in timing of smooth fade transition

I've just ported a Windows PPT file to my Mac Book Pro. Although the one video clip I'm using looks much smoother on the Mac, the slide transitions throughout the show are a lot faster than on my Dell XP laptop. On the Mac, in Options, under Timing, clicking "slow" makes no visible difference from clicking "medium" or "fast." The speed is the same. That makes the Mac version unusable for me. I need smooth fades, not caffeine-crazed transitions. What's going on? Is the CPU too hot for the software? I've saved the file as a pptx as well, but that makes no difference, either.

I've got exactly the same problem. Very annoying. In earlier versions one still had the opportunity to choose for quick time transitions. They were smooth.

Unfortunately, the post you're replying to hasn't shown up but if I
understand the issue in question there does appear to be a bug with that
particular Transition [Fade Smoothly]. I've sent a ticket up on it.

As an alternative, use Entrance the Animation Effect called Fade... It does
essentially the same thing & the speed control is even more extensive. You
can either select all objects on the slide or apply different effects to
different elements.

I've just received confirmation that MacBU has been able to repro & has
officially logged it as a bug. I'm confident it will be corrected but have
no idea when the fix will take place.
