no display on screen of word suggested spellcheck changes

Take a look under Tools/Options and on the Spelling and Grammar tab
make sure "Always suggest corrections" is turned on.

If this option is already turned on then if the misspelled word
doesn't come close to matching anything in the dictionary then the
list of suggestions will be empty. In this case all you can do is
modify the word and try to get a little closer to the correct
spelling.
