no drop down menus for Word

This deals with Office 98 for MacIntosh. When I installed
the Office suite, started Word and clicked on File the
drop down menu does not appear. This also occurs with
Edit, View and all the other drop down options except
Fonts and Help. If anybody has any knowledge why thus
happens and how to fix it, please email me. Thank you.
