I had previously been using both Entourage and Hotmail perfectly to check my mails. I like everybody else received an email alerting me to change my settings to that of a pop account. I did this.

This now works in that I can view and send messages from entourage perfectly. However I am unable to see any emails when logging into hotmail from any external computer. Plus all previous messages have been deleted/copied across onto my computer. This I can deal with (although massively frustrating) BUT I NEED TO BE ABLE TO LOG ON TO HOTMAIL AND VIEW NEW EMAILS. How do I do this please????

The nature of a POP account is to download to your computer and delete
from the server.

You can adjust your POP account's Options to leave the messages on the
server longer. Keep in mind that leaving messages on the server long
term can eventually create issues with duplicates in Entourage if the
Hotmail servers are reset.

Have a look here for the settings:

I suggest that if you need to check messages in your account from
multiple locations then move to an IMAP account with a different E-mail
service such as Gmail.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

go to Tools>Accounts and double-click your Hotmail account. Click on the
Options tab and enable the checkbox that reads "Leave a copy of each message
on the server". POP account e-mails, unlike HTML account e-mails, are
downloaded to your computer and deleted from the server; you need to tell
Entourage explicitly to leave the messages on the server if you still want
to see them via webmail.

THanks Michael this has rectified the situation.

WHat sort of problems may I encounter as suggested by William?

Also, Is there now a way of somehow transferring all the messages downloaded onto
my computer from hotmail back to hotmail as this also incurred on the
transition unintentionally?

Hi,
What sort of problems may I encounter as suggested by William?

I don't see any post by William in this thread. I use Entourage as my
newsreader, and some messages may not transfer properly from the forum which
you use to the Usenet group.
Also, Is there now a way of somehow transferring all the messages downloaded
onto my computer from hotmail back to hotmail as this also incurred on the
transition unintentionally?

I'm afraid there isn't. POP accounts only go one way, from server to client,
and you cannot transfer your messages back to the server.
