I am working on a larger .xls spread created on a PC that I can open but not save. I get the above prompt followed by "document not saved". Also the autorecover function does not work. MS says I have the latest version of Office 2008. Ideas? Workaround?

Thanks!

Saving problems are usually a permissions issue - are you reading from
and saving to a local drive?

If local, have you reset disk permissions with the Disk Utility
application?

Does this happen in a freshly created Mac OS X user account?

The Autorecover issue just supports that theory - autorecover files are
stored in the same directory as the original.
