no outgoing e-mail

I have office xp 2002. I have read all the postings and tried to add outlook
to the list of programs but it is not there. I turned the firewall off, but I
still have mcafee enabled. I tried to add outlook to the list of accepted
applications but it is not listed as a program there either. I have checked
all my ports and settings, nothing has changed. Also checked with my isp. I
still am getting e-mail but cannot send it. I even went as far as to
uninstall sp2 last week but that did not fix the problem. Help

What happens when you try to send mail? Do you get an error message? If
so, what is it?

Thanks Jeff ,
The error message is 0x800CCC7D your outgoing SMPT server does not
support outgoing ssl secure connections. If ssl secure connections have
worked contact your ISP........
I just shut off mcafee firewall and it still did not work.

You need to go to the Advanced tab on your account dialog and uncheck the
"Use SSL" box - you've set Outlook to try and use an encrypted connection to
the server, but your ISP doesn't support that.

I have been succesfully sending e-mail from outlook for years now with my
current settings. I am using a different isp to logon to the internet than
the one I am using to get my mail, But never have had any problems until
after I downloaded the latest service pack. When I started having problems I
went directly to my isp's help desk and reviewed the directions for using
at&t mail with outlook. Their instructions are as follows. under the advanced
tab for incoming mail choose the: my server requires a secure connection tab
and use 995 as the port number. For outgoing mail choose the: my server
requires a secure connection tab and type in port number 465. I tried to do
what you said but still was unsuccessful.
