no output, no error mail merge Word 2000 to Outlook 2000

Hi, I've looked in the Word discussion groups for the answer to this problem,
and any similar postings have been referred to the Outlook discussion groups,
but I can't see any similar posting for this, so here goes:

I have created a mail merge doc in Word 2000. I merge to e-mail, (Outlook
2000 is set as my default mail service), there are no errors, but also there
is nothing in my outbox or sent items.

Does anyone have any clues as to what might be (or not be) happening?
