No programmes will stay open

J

JoAnn Paules

What programs? All programs? Have you checked your computer for hardware
issues?

S

Susan Ramlet

All Windows programs, or is this limited to Office?
What version of Office?
What version of Windows?
Did this just start to occur? Did you recently install or upgrade Office?
What have you tried to resolve the issue?

K

Kay

Everything I open on my laptop - all office programmes, internet etc... will
open but close again after 15 or so seconds. I would not know hot to check
for hardware problems - I can't keep anything open for long enough to do much.

I tried to install/uninstall a recover data programme from the internet
yesterday and since then have this problem

Have you run a virus scan or does your system shut down before you can do
anything?

I've found my laptop runs hot and will sometimes shut down and not restart
for a while. I now run a fun under it and that seems to be working (so far).

Curious; "run a fun under it" so if you have fun with your laotop, it runs
cooler than being angry with it?
:)

As previously mentioned Anything/Everything I open will only stay open for a
few seconds!! - including google search...

JoAnn Paules

You've got a hardware problem. I'd bet on that. It has nothing to do with
Office, Windows, or the Internet.

or hear any start up noises, start tapping the F8 key, continue tapping
untill either the PC beeps or the starting in safe mode window appears, then

JoAnn, you didn't fail typing just reading comprehension ;-)

Microsoft does have a fairly good spell check program but their context
checker sucks. I would like to have a dollar for every time I have put in
an incorrect word only to go back later to realize I had sent the wrong
wording.

When the programs close exactly what happens? Do you go back to the desktop
or does the screen go blue or black? If it goes back to the desktop I would
suspect malware and that would have to be cleaned. Blue screen write down
exact messages and post back. Black is probably a hardware or overheat
problem. Let us know exactly what happens.

Since you installed or attempted to install a "recover data programme" what
was the name and the url (web address) of the program you obtained? This
may have been the source of your issue. Also why were you attempting a
"recover data programme" install. What issue were you having before the
latest one?

Okay - IEverything is fine in safe mode - I have deleted the programme I
installed from the interenet. Unfortunately the problem is there when the
computer starts up again.

I can open office, games, internet but again they are closing after a few
seconds - HELP!

Kay, we still need the information in my previous message to enable us to
help you. Without this information we don't know if the problem is related
to what you downloaded (a virus or other malware program) or something else.
