I'm running XP and installed Office 2000 which of course
included Outlook 2000. Though I have never exported a
backup.pst file..I don't appear to have any .pst files
already..shouldn't I be able to go in an view where my 500
emails are currently stored without making a backup first?
they must be somewhere, right? is it a .dll file perhaps??
thanx - John W

Pst-files are located in a hidden folder. Make sure you include that during
your search. Another way to find your pst-file is t rightclick on Outlook
Today-> Properties-> button Advanced-> field Filename

Roady,
I recently did not "C" drive cleaning and for some reason
my .pst is missing.
of course, it contained all my calendar, emails, etc.
I've done search *.pst, click view all files, looked
everywhere for it.
just no luck.
I've read about spyware, etc. I will try that.
but, is it completely missing and unable to be retrived???
thats the million dollar question.
can I get it back.
THanks

Spyware has nothing to do with this.

When you start Outlook does it indicate that it is missing? There are
undelete tools but in most the cases you've already written over a part of
where the pst-file used to be stored. If this is the case you can only use
your back-ups to recover the file.
