No Save/Save As dialog box (MS Word)

Trying to help a friend running Windows XP and Word 2002
on a Dell laptop.

Files can be saved just fine using Notepad and Excel, but
not Word. When Save or Save As are selected from the File
dropdown menu, nothing happens - no dialog box, no error
message. Has this happened to anyone else?

Dont know if this helps considering I work on a MAC.....

When this happens to me on a MAC all I do is dump the preference for Word located in the System/Preferences folder.

Suzie at Cape

I am having a simialr problem. When I try to save
something in word, instead of the save as dialog box
coming up, I get the save in list. This just started
happening a coule of days ago for no apparent reason.
