No scanner to choose by using MS Office Document Scanning

I have been installed Generic 16BW-5 Scanner driver for win2k_xp in my laptop
which is using OS Win XP Prof. And can process scanning documents to my
office network printer (Konica Minolta buz7616) by using MS Office Document
Scanning.

However, when I installed the same driver (no any errors have been prompted
and printer's ip address also filled in during the installation) to my
colleague's laptop which is using OS Win Vista Business. A blank list drop
down after click on the "Scanner button".

Both of us are using MS Office 2003.

It is because of MS Vista not support the driver which is actual for
win2k_xp? If is true, is there any one who may know how to fix it? Many
thanks in advance.

Have you asked your IT department if there is a Vista driver? Or have you
looked at the manufacturer's webiste? It's possible there isn't.

As JoAnn said, contact your IT department but also if you specified the
exact make and model of the scanning device that you are using (not generic
which means nothing to us) we may be able to direct you to a location where
you can download Vista drivers. While many devices work in Vista with the
older XP or even W2K drivers there are many more that don't work unless you
have the Vista specific drivers installed.

Dear JoAnn,

Many thanks for your quick response and advices.

I have been checked with my IT department and also couldn't found the entire
scanner driver for MS Vista after I was searching Konica Minolta's official
websites.

The model what I am using in office is Konica Minolta Bizbub 7616, and can
functioning well for the MS XP by using MS Office Document Scanning.

I had to purchase a new scanner when I switched from 98SE to XP and again
when I switched from XP to Vista. (There were no drivers that worked either
time.) I'm feeling your pain.
