no transport provider was available for delivery- outlook 97

i get this error message when using outlook 97 with
windows XP when sending email. i tried the fix written
for NT mentioned in knowledgebase article 176731. it does
not work. i can receive email but cannot send out email.

Have you installed the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for OL97:

Try that first.
