No Update for Office 2003 Pro - Now What?

I've receieved 'The Office Update site is unable to check for updates on this
computer.' errors after installing office 2003 pro. Actually, I've received
this error from previous versions of Office (XP & 2002). I've followed all
the troubleshooting steps (several times) to no avail. I've done complete
uninstall/re-installs. My Windows Update works.

What next?

When you say you've followed all the troubleshooting steps, are you
referring to the steps here?

How to troubleshoot failures updating your Office installation from the
Office Update Web site:

Often the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility does the trick, if nothing else
does.

Yes Susan, I have walked that troubleshooting list. I've also used that
Clean Install utility with 2003 and previous versions of Outlook. Nothing
seems to work. The only issue I can't confirm is if I have corrupt files in
the windows\installer directory. I should also say that I've kept Photodraw
2002 on my machine because it was abandoned in later versions.

Too bad. You could try Product Support. Otherwise, you should still be
able to apply all the patches without using the Office Update detector.
Perhaps when the new Windows Update Server is in place, you will be able to
use it to detect and apply both Windows and Office patches to your system.
