No work vs. zero work- how to erase?

Greetings again! When work has never been assigned to a resource on a
particular day that the task usage view shows no value for that day.
However, it appears that once work is assigned, it can then be zeroed out,
but I can't figure out how to blank it out (meaning restoring it to the
original state before work was assigned, where it wasn't zero on a
particular day but rather was nothing, blank). Anyone know how?

I think you'll have to remove the assignment and then re-assign.
