Non-anchored objects

I'm using Word 2000 for Windows.

Is there any way of inserting an object (like a Clip Art or a Text Box)
WITHOUT an anchor?

I am trying to insert such a big object alone in a page, but Word wants a
Paragraph to anchor the object to.

Thank you all.

Gilberto,

The only way to insert an object without an anchor is to change its wrapping
to inline with text. In that case, it is physically in a paragraph instead
of being anchored to it.

It might not be graphically anchored, but it it none the less anchored to a
specific paragraph in the document. Word has to store the graphic
*some*where -- the anchor in effect identifies the memory location.

Thanks to Chad and Jezebel.

Well, the object must be anchored to a paragraph, right? Then, can I anchor
it to a paragraph in another page?
My drawing fits the whole page, there's no space to put even a single line,
unless I change THAT page settings (lower and/or upper margin, for example) -
this would make the page different from the others in the document.
So, if I will can anchor it to a paragraph somewhere in the doc, that's ok
to me. How do I do this?

No, the anchor paragraph must be on the same page. But there's nothing to
stop you anchoring it to a single empty paragraph that is under the graphic.
Make sure your graphic is floating, not inline, and set to display in front
of text.

Once the object is floating as described above you can
drag it into the margins and resize it to fill more than
the text area
