non-cached enterprise global template

Hi

I have 2003Pro and 2 different project servers both running 2002server. I am the admin on both however I can not open the global enterprise template on the 2nd server. the option is always greyed out even though it is not in use elsewhere
the only difference i can see is that in the organizer it says "global + (non-cached enterprise) for the one i cant check out or open
Does anyone (Gary?) know if this is because of having 2 servers or in any event how to fix this problem as i need to update this global template

P.S. couldnt find this one in the book!

In Microsoft Project Professional, you need to create a login account
specifically for the second Project Server installation. In the Project
Server Accounts dialog, make sure you select the "Manually control
connection state" option so that you can select the desired account before
loggin in. You will then need to use this second account to login to the
second server. Hope this helps.

Hi Jeff,

Are you sure that the enterprise global project is not checked-out ? It
happens sometimes that even if a project is checked-out it doesn't appear in
the "check-in projects" page. If you are familiar with SQl, you can check it
in the table MSP_PROJECTS. Look at the column PROJ_CHECKEDOUT. The value 1
means that the project is checked-out. To check-in it you can try the tool
I've post yesterday or change the value manually. But be careful if you
change the value manually, it's never the best solution to work directly in
the database, you should do it when nothing else worked and you're stuck !!!

Keep us informed !!

Thanks Hugue
but i think that this is not the problem. there is a 2nd admin and he has no problems to open and close the global template
the only diff between us is that he is using proj2002pro and i am using proj2003pro

even assuming the global seemed to be checked out why would my proj client refuse to cache it? I will have to attempt ms support...not an enjoyable thought :-
