Heres a good one to get you thinking.
senario: exchange 2003 serving 100+ clients, all clients configured
identically, most clients have no issues at all.
a small amount (4) send mail to external clients that is never recieved, no
error message, nothing. if they use the web interface (from the same PC) the
mail goes through ok, if they use a terminal session, again from the same PC
it goes through ok
I've reinstalled office and this achives nothing.
Anyone got any ideas???

What version of Outlook are they using? How are they connecting to the
Exchange server (an Exchange account, or POP3 or IMAP)? Are there any
anti-virus/anti-spam/whatever programs installed on those computers that
interact with Outlook in some way? If so, try turning them off.

hi Jeff
thanks for the response.
the set up is as follows, exchange 2003, outlook 2003 clients, no pop mail,
all exc clients, exchange web access configured, also running a win2003 as
t\server with outlook 2003, trend av software (which shows the mail going
through) and surf control mail filter, which is not holding any of the mail.
I think the problem is in the client, or windows, as they can send the "lost"
mail from either the web interface or the ts client, just can't see whats
wrong

Are the A/V and mail filter software running on the client or the Exchange
server? If on the client, try turning both off and see if the problem goes
away - we're seeing more and more problems showing up as a result of
client-side mail scanning...

You said in a previous post that your server-side a/v software showed
messages going through. Do you see messages from the particular users in
question going through? Is there any server-side logging that can tell you
whether the messages have been sent?

If the messages are moved from Outlook's outbox to sent-items, the message
has been successfully moved from Outlook to the server, and it's now the
server's responsibility to deliver it. So it's something on your (or
someone else's) server that's not delivering the messages.

FOUND IT .
of all the unlikly things in the world it was reports, the users in question
were useing delivery and read reports, when you turn these off everything
works,. Don't know why it just does!
chalk that one up to over eagar mail blocking somewhere.
Still I'm a happy bunny again.
Thanks for all the suggestions keep up the good work, it's just nice to know
there's someone out there to bounce problems off when you need.
