Non Human Work Resources

R

Rosendo Leon

When assigning work resources to the Enterprise Resource
Pool via Project Professional 2002 to the project
server,can a placeholder, i.e. "Engineer" be added
without an e-mail address and Generic Box selected on the
Resource Information Dialog Card be done and will Project
Server still count this as an account toward a license
count? Trying to setup projects when the actual resource
is unknown and also use the enterprise features by
modified outline code to project labor category future
utilization. If not is there a way to do this.

Thanks In Advance

Rosendo:

Project Web Access counts every non-generic resource that is published to
the server as a license holder, but we all know that non-human resources,
that don't use PWA, are not consuming licenses. The built-in license counter
is a good way for a system administrator to monitor licensing compliance,
however you can set your license count to any number you want as the
software has no way of verifying how many licenses you actually own.
Therefore, you're on the honor system.
