Nonprinting characters - Spaces

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I can barely see the dots of the nonprinting spaces. I read the forum discussion "Show All Nonprinting Characters does not show spaces" and followed the advice. No matter what font, what size type and 500% zoom the space dots are there but barely visible, so tiny. Is there something else I could try? The spaces were very visible in Word 2004, but not in 2008.
Thanks!

Unfortunately that is something over which there is no direct
user-accessible control. The problem is that they chose to use a pale blue
color rather than the traditional dark gray. One additional adjustment that
may help is to alter the brightness & contrast settings of your monitor.
