Normal.dot Macros cause delay in Word Opening/Closing

Hello-

Ok, this may be a stupid question. :)

One of my customers has so many macros stored in the
global normal.dot template that it takes a good minute to
open/close the Word application. My question is the
placement of the macros: can I move them to another
template and load it in a matter that speeds up the
application? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Joe,

Yes, they can be moved and it sounds like they should be moved. :)

You can place the macros in any template and place the template in the
Word Startup folder, at which point it is considered a global
template. This way, when Word starts the macros will automatically
load and be made available. The location for the Word Startup folder
can be obtained by going to Tools/Options/File Locations.

However, it does sound like they need to be organized a bit. You may
find load time is the same. Here is an article that contains some tips
