normal.dot problem

i restored normal.dot but still have a problem - when I
open a fresh document the cursor positions itself at the
very top of the page, about 1 inch from the left margin. I
can not get the cursor to start lower down, I have tried
changing page layout settings etc but to no avail. I
restored the normal.dot by renaming the old one and
starting Word to generate a new on but the problem
persists. If I view headers and footers and then close
them without entering any test the cursor drops to the
correct position. Any ideas?

Hi Frank,

Without background on what it is you are trying to do I doubt anyone can
help you. These newsgroups have hundreds of posts a day and no one can keep
track of an individuals problem unless the posts are kept in the same
thread.

Your description of what your new document is doing sounds like what it is
supposed to do in print view.

In your description of why this is a problem, please include information on
what version of Word you are using.

Under Tools | Options, View, there's an option for "show white space between
pages" or somesuch (it may say hide). You can also show & hide the white
margins by double-clicking in that area when in Print Layout view.

Sounds like that's your problem.

Using word 2003 - I checked the white space issue
mentionsed below and that solved the problem - THANKS!
