I keep getting prompted to save normal.dot. I have run
Virus Scan and it does not find any viruses. Any
suggestions?

The most likely culprit is a poorly written Add-In. Usual suspects include
Microsoft Works, EZPhoto, Norton AV, ScanSoft. If Works, uninstall the Word
Add-In (not Works). If EZPhoto or one of the others, you'll probably find it
under Tools => Templates and Add-Ins. Click on an Add-In and a message will
display telling you where it is. Move it into a different folder (with Word
closed) and see if that fixes your problem. Complain to the folks who wrote
the Add-In and decide whether the additional functions it gives Word are
worth the pain it causes?
