When I close a document whether new or old WORD says" this
file is in use by another application or user"
(C:/ WINDOWS?>>>Templates?Normal.dot)

I then have to click OK

Then it goes to a Save as screen under the folder Templates
File name Normal.dot

I click cancel

Then I go to close document again and it says "changes
have been made to the global template, Normal.dot. Do you
want to save those changes?

I click no

Then the Winword screen comes up saying" This program has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If
the problem persists contact the program vendor.

I have to do all this EVERY time I open and crate a
document or view a saved document!

I have taken advice from this forum and found out I had
many temporary files, they are deleted. This did not
correct the problem.
I have taken advice from this forum and tried to rename
Normal.dot. I can rename it but I cannot delete the
original it only creates a second or more Normal.dot.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are using Norton Anti Virus, deselect the Office Plug-in under
Advanced Option in NAV.
