Normal template error?

When I save a document, the normal template is opened,
saved and closed again after I close my document. It then
appears in my recently opened files list. This never
happened on previous installations/versions. The template
saved in the background and never appar on the recent
list unless I opened it directly.

Is this a glitch or a new normal template behavior?

Can I stop IT?

Definitely not normal behavior. It sounds like a macro (possibly a virus) is
monkeying with your normal.dot file. I suggest you update your antivirus
defintions and do a full scan. If that comes up empty, then try the
suggestions shown here to see if they provide relief:

Go to Tools, Options, Save, and uncheck "Prompt to save
Normal template"

That disconnects the alarm without putting out the fire. And, it won't
change normal.dot being added to recent documents. This is advice that
should never be given.
