"Normal Template" Problem

J

Jeff Linder

When opening Word 2002 I often get a message saying "Word automatically saved changes to the Normal Document Template. Do you want to load it?"
On closing the application I often get a message saying "The file Normal already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"
I did not get these messages with earlier versions of Word. Should I be getting these messages?
Word is also crashing frequently with message that says "Runtime Error
Program:C:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE abnormal program termination
Are these two problems linked? Thanks for any and all help. -Jeff

Jeff, the same stupid messages have been coming up for me
too. It's very annoying. I posted my own message on
this today.

Did you find a solution?

I too posted a message related to this where I loose e-mail signatures (using word 2000 as editor for Outlook 2000). I hope there is a solution. I agree with your sentiment (the adjective choices) on the message. ----- Kate wrote: ----

The error is often the symptoms of the Blaster Virus. Are you using an up to
date Anti Virus Utility? Have you tried scanning with Stinger (download from
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/)?

If you are talking to the individuals preceeding me in the thread they will have to respond to your reply but..

If you are referring to my concern I have a reply. First thank you for coming up to bat on this issue. My reply: Nonsense. Strike one. I had the problem for approximately five months and I have never been infected with the blaster virus. I know that I have not been affected by the blaster virus because I have been told so by my IT officials, I have always had the most current antivirus software, and I have not had a quaranted virus registered in over 2 years and blaster wasn't the virus that was eradicated before it infected anything. Anyother ideas? Anyone else
