Norton Internet Security Problems

Fred

Some of you will remember me posting a range of questions regarding being
unable to publish and display affiliate banners on either of my websites.
This problem also impaired the ability to see banners displayed on affiliate
suppliers web pages. After several weeks I have now found the culprit to be
Norton - even though I had set it on it's lowest security setting. If I
disable Norton and clear all previously stored pages I can see everything I
have loaded.

I wonder if anybody else has had any problems with Norton and if so how did
they resolve them. For the time being I will disable Norton when working on
my own websites but it isn't an ideal situation.

Thanks to all who tried to help solve this problem. Fred

Fred,

Your problem may be Norton's Script Blocker. If that's the case, from what
I've experienced, the only way to disable it is to completely disable Norton
or uninstall it. However, in recent versions, there may be a setting that
allows you to disable only the Script Blocker portion.

In my opinion, any Norton software is a bad idea. I've seen more computers
completely corrupted because of software such as WinDoctor (a Norton
product), and I've seen plenty of people have serious problems due to Norton
AV or Norton Internet Security.

Thanks Jim,

Norton allows me to disable script blocking which I have now done. I'll give
it a try and come back to the group. My only concern is that if other
surfers are viewing my web pages with Norton will they be able to see the
scripts? Time will tell. Thanks for your help and I think your jimcoaddins
site is super.

If Norton also blocks banner ads and popups, that would not be related to
script blocking, but would stop you from viewing banner ads.

It may not even be Norton, there are plenty of ad and banner blocking
programs out there (thank God..!)

Ivor (a confirmed ad and banner hater, sorry..!)
