Hi all,

i have a strange problem i am unable to solve :( i have
properly installed Project 2002 Server and Professional
environment...

I have added some custom Enterprise Fields to the
Enterprise Global...

then, when i open a blank project and go to Resources -
Specify people and equipment, i receive an error:

"Not a valid new name. The name you have entered is also
the name of an item of the same type in the enterprise
global. Please enter a different name"

Any suggestions what i did wrong anf how to fix it?

Thanx in advance

It sounds like you are trying to create your team of resources for the
project by typing them into the Resource Sheet view. It also sounds like
you are working in an enterprise environment, which includes resources in
the Enterprise Resource Pool. If these two assumptions are correct, then
you need to create your project team using the Team Builder Wizard (Tools -
Build Team from Enterprise...) instead of typing them into the Resource
Sheet view. Hope this helps.

It sounds like what you will need to do is to create a new enterprise View
in your Enterprise Global. This new view should be a custom version of your
Resource Sheet view, containing a custom resource Entry table which contains
the custom fields you want to see.

You would first need to make a copy of the resource Entry table, give it a
unique name, select the "Show in menu" option, and then add the custom
fields you want to see. Once you have created the custom Table, you should
make a copy of the Resource Sheet view. You should give this new View a
unique name, select the "Show in menu" option, and then select your new
Table in the View Definition dialog box.

Once you have created the new Table and View, DO NOT apply them in the
Enterprise Global. Instead, simply save the Enterprise Global and close MS
Project. When you reopen MS Project, your new View will show up on your
View menu. You will then be able to open the Enterprise Resource Pool and
apply your new View. Hope this helps.
