Not able to access contacts when sending new email

All my contacts are there but, when I go to compose a new email and click the
to button I get this error message "the address list could not be displayed.
The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it
may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For more
information on how to remove this folder from the outlook address book, see
microsoft outlook help". Is there any help out there?

What version of Outlook are you using? If it's one of the more recent
versions, take a look here: Tools menu > Email accounts > View/Change
existing directories or address books > Click Next > Highlight Outlook
Address Book > Click Change

See what contact folders are listed. If any are invalid remove them. Also,
try right clicking on your Contacts folder in the folder list, choose
Properties, Outlook Address Book tab. Make sure the "Show this folder as an
address book" box is checked

This is my labtop at home. It has outlook 2002 with sp3. I'll give that a
