NOT ABLE TO SAVE DOCUMENT IN WORD 2002

I continue to have the problem of working on a Word 2002/
XP home user/ document and try to save it after many
successful saves, I no longer can save the document.
I get this message: "Thee sis an unrecoverable disk error
on file.. Then the file number or temp file is listed" or
I get this message:"The disk you are working on has a
media problem that prevents word from using it"
when I click on the save button in Ty window that I
receive I get this message:
Try Formatting anther disk , save ducumets to another
disk."

Please advise,
