Not able to send mails on outlook 2007

Willa

My outgoing mails stopped working a few days ago, any suggestions?
Error code 0x80042109
outlook can't connect to your outgoing smtp server or an encrypted
connection to your server cannot be established.
I can still receive mails but all outgoing mails stopped working a few days
ago.

It could be that the outgoing SMTP server is looking for authentication from
you. When you set up your account in Outlook, did you specify your password
for the SMTP server as well as your POP3 server?

It could also be that if you have antivirus set up to scan incoming/outgoing
mail that it's preventing you from connecting.

If you're using Norton, see if they have any updates or patches for it.

It has been working fine for about 6 months now, no changes were made to the
account settings. I will have a look at the norton option.

Thx,

You may not have made changes but some updates may have. Your antivirus and
firewall are never static. They have updates made, there are O/S updates,
Office updates, updates for other software applications or Add Ins to Outlook
that may have changed this. Also, anything installed that may have some
integration with Outlook could be responsible for this as well. It doesn't
necessarily mean that you had to have made a change.
