not able to use Spell Check in Outlook Express...

Chris Billings

I just bought a new computer. I am trying to use Outlook
Express. The spell check feature is not present. I go
to the help section on the tool bar and it tells me that
Outlook Express doesn't have a spell check feature unless
you have a Word programs (or Works, PowerPoint, etc.)

I have Works 7.0, and it works fine. Why can't I use
Spell Check in Outlook Express then? Please help,

Thank you,

Chris Billings

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Chris,

Had the very same problem.

Finally went on GOOGLE and found a quite inexpensive Microsoft WORD OE
product. . .loaded it. . .and now Spell Check works fine.

Remember it must be WORD. . . not WORKS......WORKS does not suppor
Spell Check in OUTLOOK......regardless of what they told you.

Been there, done that!

Actually this NG is for Outlook, not Outlook Express. But to answer your
question, OE does not contain a spell checker. It requires one from a 32-bit
program such as Microsoft Word (forgive the pun, but Works will not work).
There are also free, downloadable spell checkers that will do the job. Do a
Google search to find one.
