not delete outlook files when imap messages are deleted

New to Outlook

How do I NOT delete Outlook files when IMAP messages (i.e., AOL) are
deleted? Thus, I want to keep all messages in my Outlook folders after I
delete them from my AOL folders, which I have to occasionally due to AOL
limits.

Instead of deleting them, move them to local folders. That will cause them to
be deleted on the server and then you can purge the server when you're done.
