Not deleting EMail Messages

Help me! I'm tearing my hair out on this one.

I've got Windows XP Pro and Outlook XP installed on my home PC.

When I open Outlook and it automatically collects messages, any new
messages from my POP3 account arrive. If I leave Outlook running, and
it delivers new messages every 5 minutes it only delivers new
messages. So far so good.

However, if I manually select Send/Receive All I get all the messages
from the last few weeks! It's not deleting messages from the server.

This happens regardless of whether I switch the "Leave messages on
server" setting on or off. If I switch it on, then Outlook still
delivers duplicate copies of all the messages. If I switch if off
then the same thing happens.

Basically every day I go into Outlook and it redelivers all the
messages from the last few weeks...

I have checked the PST file using SCANPST - it reports no errors.

The only way I can actually get messages off the server is via my ISPs
webmail interface.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

It sounds like either Outlook isn't issuing the delete command or your ISP's
server is ignoring it for some reason. It's possible to turn on message
logging and see if, in fact, the delete command is being sent and what
response your ISP's server is giving. Read

For the record, this problem was a bug in Outlook XP that was fixed in
Office XP SP3. All working fine now.
