not enough memory to display picture - too many equations

Can anyone suggest a solution:
getting "not enough memory to display pictures" error
message when opening a word document (both on macosx and
word2000 on win2k) that contains lots of equations and some
pictures.

It was last edited on a mac - and started playing up on
that box.

equations etc are still in the document and double clicking
them brings up the correct application.

Printing the doc shows big boxes where equations should be.

Any suggestions for making it work again?

Years agon on macs you could increase memory allocation
using getinfo - what's the modern trick for windows and macosx?

I'm getting a similar message when saving large documents with images for use in another application (InfoPak). What size was your file? 3MB seems to be the breaking point for us. It seems locgical that the memory could be increased, but maybe that was a Mac feature -- I'm using Win2000 now
